Persistence

We know that in order to achieve any desired level of success, one must be persistent and driven. The demise of the dreamer is often the result of poor planning and goal-setting.  It is easy to overlook this step but it plays a huge part in how far and how high your dream takes you.  This doesn’t mean that you should stop dreaming in order to set “attainable” goals, because that will only hinder your unique creativity.  Setting “attainable” goals is good, but you may be placing a cap on your potential level of success. Always dream big! This is the best time in your life to chase down a dream!  You have minimal responsibility in regards to a career. You don’t have any risk of tarnishing your career, because you haven’t started one yet! You are living in an ideal situation, in which you have everything to gain and so little to lose. So throw out the traditional approach to careers and incorporate your dreams into how you live your life. The most successful people in any profession, whether they are business tycoons, actors, or artists, are those that dream big.

What is the difference between them and you? Just one choice! The choice completely revolves aroundPersistent to the end the word NOW! They are “now” individuals. The word later is not part of their vocabulary. In their experience, the word “later” almost always translates into never! These people take day to day steps that contribute to the larger whole.  They never capped their success or dreams, but instead they set up daily steps to transform an idea into a reality. Instead of focusing on the end result , they focus on the daily efforts required to achieve their larger dream. They have chosen to live in the “now”, and you can too!

If you remember anything, remember this: you can choose to think in the “now” just like them! Unlike hair, or even skin color, one is not born with a pre-determined way of thinking. Just as these prominent individuals chose to become “now” people, you can too. Remember though, becoming a “now” person is worthless if you put it towards mundane, daily tasks. You must set up a larger picture, believing that every day is an exciting opportunity to work towards your ultimate success. The most accomplished people in society are not always the most intelligent. Former President and fellow dreamer Calvin Coolidge said it best:

“Nothing in this world can take the
place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common
than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is
almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of
educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone
are omnipotent.
The slogan 'press on' has solved and
always will solve the problems of the
human race.”
